Raleigh City Museum Web Site Now Hosts
"This Month in Raleigh History" Trivia Contest

Do you know when Cameron Village Shopping Center first opened? Or when St. Augustine's College first opened its doors? Or the year that Hurricane Hazel caused tremendous damage in Raleigh? Thanks to the Raleigh City Museum's web site you now have a chance to learn the answers to these and other local history events.

Beginning in November, the Museum's web site, http://www.raleighcitymuseum.org/, began featuring "This Month in Raleigh History." By clicking on a special icon located on the Museum's home page, the online visitor can view an index of important dates in our city's history for the current month. To further wet the appetite of local history buffs, the page also includes a monthly History Trivia Contest. Web visitors can answer the monthly trivia question via an e-mail link, and correct answers are rewarded with a special gift from the Raleigh City Museum Store.

"We think this can be an important learning tool not only for local citizens and students, but for far-away cyber visitors as well," says Jennifer A. Kulikowski, the executive director of the Museum. "We are excited to provide a sampling of local history in such a convenient manner, and we're intrigued to see how many people really know Raleigh history."

The Raleigh City Museum, a private non-profit organization, is located in the Historic 1874 Briggs Building on Fayetteville Street Mall. It is open to the general public Tuesday - Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday - Sunday, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Admission to the Museum is free. For more information, contact the Museum at 832-3775.
