Pieces of the Past Antiques Symposium
at the Raleigh City Museum

The Raleigh City Museum will be hosting its first annual Pieces of the Past Antiques Symposium 2002 on Saturday, February 9 from 11am-5pm and Sunday, February 10 from 12-4pm. The event will take place in downtown Raleigh at the home of the Raleigh City Museum, 220 Fayetteville Street Mall in the historic Briggs Building.

The two-day symposium will feature presentations and demonstrations on antiques, collecting, genealogy, postcards, toys, textiles, silver, coin, and much, much more! Emyl Jenkins, Raleigh's own nationally renowned author on antiques, is the event's honorary chair and will be the highlighted presenter. Other confirmed presentations include "The Best Conservation is Prevention" (David Goist, Conservator); "Raleigh on Postcards" Slide Presentation (B.T. Fowler); "Art Talk" (Lee Hansley); "Pottery" Slide Presentation (Charlotte Brown); "Converting Music to CDs" (George Hall); "Victorian Silver Flatware" (Lee Lynch); "Wood Toys & Collectibles" (Frank Mansfield); "North Carolina Quilts" (Jane Hall); and "Coin & Stamp Collecting" (Doug Mattox). Several other demonstrations and workshops will also be provided.

The public is invited to this educational event that celebrates the personal study and preservation of history and its objects. All tickets are valid for both days of the symposium. Non museum member tickets are $8 in advance; museum members and students are $5 in advance. Tickets may also be purchased the day of the symposium at the door for $10 each.
