Raleigh Heritage Trail to Host
"Family Day" at Mordecai Historic Park

Would you like to learn more about historic gardens and hearth cooking? Or, see how beeswax is transformed into candles? Or, watch a hand loom demonstration while listening to live music? Would you like to soak up lots of local history from Raleigh sites sharing their collective heritage? Then be sure to sample these activities and more when Mordecai Historic Park hosts "Family Day" sponsored by the Raleigh Heritage Trail. Highlighting the Family Day at Mordecai Historic Park will be the reopening of Mordecai House for public tours following the restoration of the building's interior and the return from storage of Capital Area Preservation's collection of historic furniture and furnishings. This day of exhibits, demonstrations, live music and more takes place on SATURDAY, JUNE 8 from 10 AM to 4 PM. Mordecai Historic Park is located at 1 Mimosa Street, just off Wake Forest Road, in Raleigh. Admission to the event is free. Admission to the Mordecai House will be half price ($3 for adults; $2 for children 7-17). The event is open to the general public and all are invited to attend. Concessions will be available for sale.

The Raleigh Heritage Trail is a consortium of local cultural and historic sites whose common goals are to promote the understanding of the history of Greater Raleigh and to better serve residents and visitors through shared educational programming. Member sites include the African American Cultural Complex, the Executive Mansion, Haywood Hall, Historic Oak View County Park, Historic Yates Mill County Park, the Joel Lane House Museum, Mordecai Historic Park, the North Carolina State Capitol, the Pope House Museum and the Raleigh City Museum.
