Raleigh City Museum to Host
Local Artist Lecture

Chris Rohrbach will describe his approach to oil painting through a slide presentation

RALEIGH, N.C. (September 3, 2002) -- The Raleigh City Museum will host a "meet the artist" lecture and slide presentation by Raleigh visual artist Chris Rohrbach on Saturday, September 14, 2002 at 2 p.m. in the Museum’s classroom facility at 220 Fayetteville Street Mall in downtown Raleigh. The general public is invited to attend this free event. Mr. Rohrbach, the museum’s current artist-in-residence, has his work on exhibit in the Raleigh City Museum Store.

Chris Rohrbach moved to Raleigh from Pennsylvania approximately one year ago, along with his wife who is pursuing a graduate degree at NC State. Chris has been using the Raleigh cityscape as a source of inspiration for his current body of work, which consists of oil paints on canvas or gessoboard. Chris plans to explain his artistic background and demonstrate his approach to painting during his upcoming presentation. In June 2002 Chris was selected as the Raleigh City Museum’s second artist-in-residence, a program instituted by the museum in September 2001. The Raleigh City Museum Artist-in-Residence Program highlights a Raleigh-based artist by providing an exhibition venue within the Museum Store and by hosting a "meet the artist" lecture for the general public.

The Raleigh City Museum is a private non-profit museum and educational center that utilizes exhibits, lectures and programs to help residents and visitors learn about the diverse aspects of the city’s people, places and events. Located in the historic Briggs Building in downtown Raleigh, it is open to the general public Tuesday - Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday & Sunday, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Admission to the museum is free.
