Raleigh City Museum to Host First Annual
Fayetteville Street Fair on June 14
Event will celebrate the history of Raleigh's Main Street
RALEIGH, N.C. (May 23, 2003) - As part of the continuing celebration recognizing the
Raleigh City Museum's 10th anniversary, the museum will host an outdoor Fayetteville
Street Fair on Saturday, June 14 in front of the Briggs Building on the 200-block of
the pedestrian mall. Running from approximately 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Street
Fair will feature live music, children's activities, food vendors, booths featuring
local historic sites and organizations, guided tours of the Museum's current exhibits,
and history-related presentations.
"We are excited to announce that our featured musical performers for the Fayetteville
Street Fair are Andy & George Bonner, brother musicians also known as 'Who Was Thursday',"
says Jenny Kulikowski, the museum's executive director. Jenny noted that Andy and George
are the same performers who wowed the museum's audience for First Night Raleigh 2003.
Andy, a musician from the Eastman School of Music, and his younger brother George
combine elements of folk, bluegrass and Celtic fiddle music within their act. They
will perform at the Street Fair from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. that day. Also participating
will be the NC State Pipes & Drums who will perform from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Because of the anticipated crowd for the day, the Museum will need to rely heavily upon
a Volunteer Corps to help facilitate the day. If you are interested in assisting with
the Fayetteville Street Fair on June 14, call Ken at 832-3775 ext. 11 or e-mail him at
