April a Busy Event Month At the Raleigh City Museum

RALEIGH, N.C. (March 23, 2005) – The Raleigh City Museum will host several special events in the month of April, including the museum’s premier fundraiser.

On Saturday, April 2 at 2:00 p.m. the “Pieces of the Past” Saturday Program Series concludes for this season with a talk by Metro Magazine Editor Bernie Reeves. Entitled “My Life and Times in the Media in Raleigh,” Mr. Reeves will host a lively discussion on his personal perspective on Raleigh, gleaned through years of work in the local media at the Spectator, the Triangle Business Journal and now at Metro Magazine.

The RCM “Children’s Hour” will continue on Saturday, April 16 at 2:00 p.m. when Museum Educator Ken Peters hosts a scavenger hunt for kids in the museum’s current exhibit “Planes, Trains & Automobiles: Transportation in the Triangle.” All materials will be provided - just show up for fun and adventure! The RCM Children's Hour is open to kids ages 6 and up. All children must be accompanied by an adult during the program, which typically runs approximately 45 minutes to one hour.

The Raleigh City Museum will host its annual spring fundraiser, Time Warp 2005, on Thursday, April 28, 2005 beginning at 6:30 p.m. This year’s event – the sixth annual – will be held in the museum’s A.J. Fletcher Foundation Gallery inside the Briggs Building at 220 Fayetteville Street Mall. Guests at Time Warp 2005 will enjoy a fun-filled evening of music, food, and dancing. A silent auction with exciting items will be another component of the event. Tickets will be available in advance for $50/person to non-museum members, and $45/person to Raleigh City Museum members. Please plan to join us for a memorable evening that celebrates both the Raleigh City Museum and Downtown Raleigh. For more information on Time Warp 2005, including sponsorship opportunities, contact Dianne Davidian at 832-3775 ext. 13.

For more information on these events, please contact Ken Peters, Coordinator of Education & Outreach, at 832-3775 ext. 11.
