Used Book Sale and “Sports Memories” Highlight the Month
RALEIGH, N.C. (September 7, 2006) – The Raleigh City Museum’s fall
program season is well under way. Please be sure to mark your
calendars with these events and plan a visit to the museum this month
for an enjoyable experience.
Settle down after the busy summer season with books (and more)
purchased at the Raleigh City Museum’s fifth annual “Back From the
Beach” Fall Used Book Sale. The Used Book Sale begins Wednesday,
September 13 and concludes Wednesday, September 20. The hours
coincide with the museum’s regular public hours (Tuesdays-Fridays, 10
am to 4pm, Saturdays 1 to 4pm, closed Sundays and Mondays). The sale
will feature hundreds of donated books from children’s titles to
general fiction, biographies and non-fiction. Also available will be
a limited supply of donated videos, CDs, DVDs and cassette tapes.
Hard backs will sell for $3 and paperbacks for $1, and all proceeds
will benefit the museum and its educational programs. The museum will
be accepting donated items for the sale through Saturday, September 9
at the reception desk during regular public hours. Donations may
include books, CDs, videos, DVDs and cassette tapes.
“Raleigh Sports Memories.” Saturday, September 30 at 2 p.m. Using
the new exhibit "The Thrill of Victory: Sports & Recreation in
Raleigh" as a backdrop, Museum Educator Ken Peters will moderate an
open forum discussion that recalls visitors' sports memories in
Raleigh. If you used to watch the Capitals play at Devereux Meadow
Baseball Park or remember the Dixie Classic basketball tournament, you
will want to join us this afternoon!
