October a busy program month at the Raleigh City Museum

RALEIGH, N.C. (September 29, 2006) - Please be sure to mark your calendars with these Raleigh City Museum events and plan to join us for a fun-filled educational experience in October.

HERITAGE DAY AT HISTORIC OAK VIEW COUNTY PARK: Saturday, October 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Celebrate our area.s rich historical legacies at Historic Oak View County Park.s annual Heritage Day event. The Raleigh City Museum will host an outdoor activity station for children during the festivities. Historic Oak View County Park is located off Poole Road at 4028 Carya Drive. RCM CHILDREN'S HOUR: "Sports & Recreation Scavenger Hunt." Saturday, October 14 at 2 p.m. Come to the Raleigh City Museum and learn the history of sports and recreation in Raleigh through a fun-filled scavenger hunt. Using questions pulled from the museum's newest exhibit "The Thrill of Victory: Sports & Recreation in Raleigh," kids and parents search for the answers by reviewing the exhibit's photographs, artifacts and text panels. All materials provided - just show up for fun and adventure! This lively hand.s-on children.s program is open to ages 6 and older (must be accompanied by an adult). A.J. Fletcher Foundation Gallery. "PIECES OF THE PAST" Saturday Program Series: .The Future of Downtown Raleigh.. Saturday, October 28 at 2 p.m. Using the exhibit "The Changing Face of Fayetteville Street" as a backdrop, Kris Larson of the Downtown Raleigh Alliance and Elizabeth Alley of the Raleigh Urban Design Center will present an overview of the upcoming developments planned for the revitalized Downtown Raleigh.
