ABSTRACTATIONS: Exhibition Prospectus
Eligibility
This is an open competition conducted by the Raleigh City Museum (RCM) for all Raleigh artists. All mediums of art will be accepted including, but not limited to, paintings, mixed media, sculpture, photography, graphic design, textiles, and print making.
Jury Process
Jury is by digital submission only, and must be received by the RCM by 5pm Friday, September 4, 2009. Entrants may submit as many pieces as they would like. Please do not submit images of work that are not available for display. Digital files will be printed and compared to accepted original art. Inconsistent images may be rejected. Participants will be notified of jury selected pieces by September 11, 2009.
Submission Fees
$10 submission fee per piece. Museum members may submit one piece at no charge, each additional piece for $5. All artists may submit as many pieces as they would like.
Image Requirements
Images may be submitted by emailing submissions@raleighcitymuseum.org, or by dropping off a CD to the RCM. The digital submission images need to be 300 dpi jpg files no larger than 7 inches in its longest dimension. Each jpg file must be titled with your last name, first initial, "underscore" and the correlating number to match the entry form. For example, Tom Jones would be JonesT_1.jpg. The CD itself must be labeled with the photographer's name and contact information. Materials will not be returned. In addition to the images, each artist needs to compete a submission form for each separate entry, which can be found and downloaded here.
Framing and Mounting Requirements
All accepted work must be presented to the museum ready to display. All 2D materials must framed or mounted and be ready to hang. 3D materials must come with any supports needed. Size requirements are: Wall mounted pieces can be NO LARGER than 40” at its longest dimension.
Delivery and Handling
Accepted work must be delivered to the RCM between 10 AM and 5 PM, Friday, September 18, 2009.
Sales
Each piece in the show needs to be priced to sell at $200 or less. The RCM will retain a commission of 25% for any sales during the show.
Liability
The RCM carries no liability insurance and assumes no responsibility for the safekeeping of the artwork. The Artist agrees to release the RCM from all liability, including, but not limited to, liability for personal injury, theft of/or damage to the artwork, or the theft of/or damage to the collection or the proceeds from its sale.
Rights
The RCM reserves the right to photograph and retain a set of images of the exhibit. These materials will be used solely for educational, promotional, and documentation purposes.
