9 Reasons to Love Selena Gomez’s Cooking Show

Selena Gomez has done it all: she’s released three albums, appeared in numerous movies and TV shows, created her own fashion line – now she’s taking up cooking!

Gomez joins top chefs in each episode to showcase both the frustrations and delights of learning how to cook.

1. It’s Fun

Selena Gomez may not be known for her cooking abilities, but in the new HBO Max series Selena learns to cook during quarantine with help from master chefs such as Tanya Holland, Angelo Sosa, Antonia Lofaso Daniel Holzman Nyseha Arrington Jon & Vinny Silverton via FaceTime lessons as she deals with kitchen mishaps like setting her oven on fire or burning matcha chocolate chip cookies!

Selena + Chef is a fun and entertaining show that will leave viewers laughing over Selena’s culinary misadventures while simultaneously teaching some delicious new recipes. HBO Max plans start from just 9.99/month for viewing of Selena + Chef.

2. It’s Real

Gomez’s show stands out from other pandemic-based cooking shows because she shot it in her actual home (her Malibu beach house, to be exact). This gives it more authenticity, making the show feel less like a fake TV cooking special and more like real life.

Each episode features a different master chef teaching Gomez how to prepare dishes from various cuisines through video chat. Antonia Lofaso, Jon & Vinny and Candice Kumai all help Gomez learn their respective cuisine’s recipes.

Selena + Chef has become an entertaining, heartwarming cooking show that will have you wanting to grab some gloves and enter the kitchen yourself. Additionally, each episode benefits a charity. Check out the trailer below – it will have your mouth watering in no time! The fourth season of Selena + Chef premieres Aug 13 on HBO Max; don’t miss it – and start salivating now.

3. It’s Delicious

Selena Gomez has long proven her versatility as an entertainer, and her cooking show only underscores this versatility. From her minimalist makeup approach and natural look to her heartwarming interactions with hostess chef-hostesses – Selena shines as an irreplaceable colleague in the kitchen.

Each episode finds her sharpening her skills and learning new recipes from chefs willing to share their expertise. French chef Ludo Lefebvre helps her master his classic omelette and souffle recipes, Antonia Lofaso introduces seafood tostadas while health-minded chef Candice Kumai tutors her in making “Spicy Miso Ramen” and matcha chocolate chip cookies.

But it’s her mistakes in the kitchen that really add a dash of charm; from searching through her entire kitchen for chickpeas (it turns out they’re actually called garbanzo beans) to accidentally smashing a garlic clove with her jar lid – we all make mistakes too!

4. It’s Great to Watch

The show is tremendously enjoyable. Even though Gomez’s new home comes complete with everything she could ever need for cooking and her friends are certified food tasters, she still manages to give the impression that she’s just an everyday girl taking risks and trying something different.

Each episode features a guest chef teaching Selena some upscale recipes in a restaurant-esque environment, with plenty of laughter and whoops moments thrown in for good measure!

Though it takes some time for the show to gain steam, it quickly proves entertaining and genuine in its use of her platform. Plus, each episode sees her donate $10,000 to one of the charities supported by Chef McCarley – always an added plus.

5. It’s Educational

Selena + Chef not only makes for entertaining viewing, but each episode provides some valuable culinary lessons as well. Though Selena may not always be great in the kitchen (her haplessness may even endanger the entire dish, like when she sets parchment paper ablaze while making grilled sole with burnt tomato and sorrel or attempts to whisk meringue over a double boiler without an electric stand mixer), her friendly attitude and cheerful banter with chefs makes for endearing viewing!

Friends, family, and maternal grandparents – affectionately known as poppa and nanna – help out by rating her dishes before each episode is shown and she makes a donation to a charity of the chef’s choosing at its conclusion – truly kind gesture! Something we can all support.

6. It’s Delicious

Selena + Chef offers a fresh take on the cooking show genre. Though Gomez lives in an extravagant $5 million house and owns all sorts of fancy kitchen appliances (and knives!), her entertaining interactions with each chef as they impart knowledge to her about various techniques and recipes as well as her casual conversations with Stevens make this series riveting viewing.

So relatable it makes it even more relatable! Each episode culminates with her giving $10,000 to charity of the chef’s choice – giving back and drawing attention to important social issues while offering up delicious millennial foodie fare and celebrity culture! You won’t want to miss adding this new show into your lineup right away.

7. It’s Diverse

Though it initially takes some time to settle in, the show gradually improves with each episode. The humor becomes more natural, while cinematography emphasizes food more.

Gomez has been quarantined since last fall; each episode features her being remotely joined by an accomplished chef to prepare new recipes from different cuisines – with such names as Angelo Sosa, Antonia Lofaso, Candice Kumai, Daniel Holzman Jon & Vinny Nancy Silverton Roy Choi and Nyesha Arrington among those involved.

Selena+Chef will also highlight a different food-related charity in each episode, with Gomez showing her own spin on everything from tacos and eggplant parmesan to making a fresh pie crust from scratch! Watch below the trailer for Selena+Chef; its first season premieres this summer on HBO Max.

8. It’s Innovative

Selena Gomez’s cooking show proves that even adults can learn new things. Her approach takes an open approach to her culinary pursuits and she doesn’t shy away from mistakes; in fact, it makes her more excited when something works well!

Each episode finds Gomez video-chatting with a different chef as she creates ambitious dishes in her kitchen. They don’t chide or abuse her; rather they encourage and support her with loving gentleness – an approach that humanizes Gomez further when being told what to do by an authoritative Frenchman such as Ludo Lefebvre.

Chefs also highlight charities they care about and encourage viewers to donate through Gomez’s platform, making this an engaging way of using it for good.

9. It’s for a Cause

After being forced to spend time with her family during quarantine, Selena Gomez realized she had an aptitude for cooking. Her bumbling and often funny kitchen adventures provide more than entertainment; they serve as a reminder that it’s okay to make mistakes.

Each episode, she is paired with one of Antonia Lofaso’s, Candice Kumai’s Daniel Holzmans’ Ludo Lefebvre’s and Nyesha Arringtons’ chefs (such as Antonia Lofaso and Candice Kumai’s Daniel Holzman’s Ludo Lefebvre’s, Nyesha Arringtons Roy Chois) to assist in making one signature recipe after another – often while deboning and decapitating fish (while gagging!), finding correct oven controls as well as receiving honest opinions from friends and family on-the-spot reviews from friends and family alike!

Gomez features each chef to highlight an altruistic organization and, at the end of every show, donates $10,000 – she even gets to share some of her cooking expertise with non-celebrity friends enlisted as volunteers!
